What is your role at tractionwise?

I am dealing with Data Analysis, translating business questions to metrics, pulling the data, cleaning and presenting insights. The last part, designing graphical presentation which is most appropriate for a particular problem is what I like most.

How do you recharge your batteries?

I think I am quite predictable in this aspect. I like sport activities, especially cycling and skiing. I also like cooking and meeting with friends and family.

How does tractionwise culture help you do your best work?

We share common values – high quality of service for clients, high level of trust and empowerment, without micromanagement. This is important, sometimes underestimated, while focusing only on a to-do list. But the saying goes “culture eats strategy for breakfast”, and for good reason.

How did you come across tractionwise?

Through a partnership between universities and companies. Students have the opportunity to work with companies on projects during their studies, gaining work experience and the chance to work in companies afterwards. I have to praise tractionwise in this respect.

Which of the company values is the most important to you and why?

Agile values, i.e. open-mindedness, learning and diversity, because sharing information in the team has helped me a lot.

tractionwise brings together talented people from all over the world. The strengths of each individual are discovered and celebrated.

If you could only have three apps on your phone, which would you pick?
  • Some kind of messenger app, to stay in contact with people
  • YouTube for entertainment
  • App Store to have a possibility to swap these two when needed ;)

What do you enjoy most in your spare time?

I’m dancing in a folk ensemble, so I’m spending some time on rehearsals. Additionally, I like to read books, watch TV series, and spend time with family and friends.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I cannot blink one eye, whether left or right. I can only close both eyes at the same time. Somehow super curious and never met a person who feels the same way as me. However, I have never questioned or researched what this has to do with.

What do you enjoy most in your spare time?

There are three things that inspire me in my free time, but also give me a great balance to work.

  • Forestry work, making wood (handicraft work); I can switch off super, especially because at the end I see clearly what I have done. Preferably alone in nature
  • Training with my dog Marlin. No matter if agility, obedience, learning tricks or just a little hike with sniffing fun.
  • Going road biking together with my wife Katharina.
What does your average day look like?

The alarm clock rings at 05:15, the sports stuff is already packed and I jump together with my wife on the bike and we go to the gym. At 06:00 we are on the surface and train together. During the training we can exchange super and discuss everyday private things.

At 08:30 we are back home and I sit with cup of coffee at the laptop and start to work.

Around noon I do a walk or a small training session in the garden with Marlin. If there is still time in the afternoon or evening, I go for a short jog.

Around 8 p.m. I usually close my laptop and say goodbye to the evening. My wife thanks me. She has already prepared dinner.

What is your role at tractionwise?

I am the contact person around the topic of social media. My main task is currently the filling of the LinkedIn profiles of tractionwise itself. This means, among other things, the selection of the topics played, the text as well as image creation. In addition, I was already allowed to create one or the other concept for customers, because social media is now simply part of it ;-)

How would you describe the collaboration at tractionwise?

There are no boss airs here, but cooperation at eye level! I love the extremely respectful and appreciative interaction. We consist of an international team, all of whom work remotely, and yet we act as a team and spend virtual evenings together over a beer, for example.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I’m not saying that – I want to keep it that way.  :-P

How does the tractionwise culture help you do your best work?
At tw, there is an appreciative working environment in which I can simply be who I am. When I know I can develop freely, ask questions when needed, and that I am trusted – that’s when I work best and most happily! Fortunately, I have found that at tractionwise :).
What do you like to do most in your free time?

Everything that has to do with being outside & active or with food & coffee is fun for me. I love hiking, jogging, yoga, camping, snowboarding and surfing (the latter still expandable  ). As well as everything that has to do with food! I love to cook and bake and share the end result with my friends.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I can move both of my ears independently.

Karl Sandoval

What does a typical day look like for you?

First, I help my kids get ready for the day and take them to school. Then I have time to work before the kids need to be picked up again. Sometime late in the evening, when it’s probably already raining, dark and cold, there’s hopefully time to get out and jog around the empty city.

What do you enjoy most about working at tractionwise?

People always deal with each other in a professional and positive manner. This is the basis for a great cooperation and for managing projects together and solving problems constructively.

If you could only have three apps on your phone, which would you choose?
  • The Guardian
  • Spotify
  • any messenger service

How do you recharge your batteries?

During a relaxing (mountain) hike, a tour with the bike through the countryside, or by preparing and enjoying a delicious meal, preferably together with my better half Milena :-).

If you could only have three apps on your phone, which would you choose?
  • Calendar to get appointments out of my head and not let them slip by.
  • Trello for the overview of my pending business tasks.
  • Audible for the constant education with great audio books.

How tractionwise culture helps you do your best work?

Appreciation, trust and the right to fail, to name just a few. We all meet as equals, try out new things and allow experiments to sometimes not succeed as expected. This spurs me on in the core of my being until things work out.
